Interior Decoration

February 7th, 2008
One thing you need to decide on when changing the interior of your house is what style you want the theme to be in. Heck there are tons of choices like Southwest, Country, Oriental, and even Medieval. Yes all of those themes have been used before and will surely be used again.

Interior decoration is up to the person who owns the house and who will be living there for however long they own the house. Of course if it’s a couple they will most likely need to compromise on a few of the areas. You know, the husband wants a sports room done all in Nascar, but the wife would rather have something a bit more tame.

This is where you can either decide to hire a person to help you that is an interior designer, or you can go about it all by yourself. For money savings you will want to do all the stuff by yourself. Of course you will have all the stress of what color to paint the walls and if you want to have wall paper or just a border, or if it’s a feminine look or if you want to go for a more masculine look.

There are so many things to decide when taking on an interior decoration project that most people don’t even attempt it. They don’t want to fight with each other, or their tastes don’t match close enough to get a happy medium of what they want their house to look like.

If you have a boy’s room it’s always a great idea to do maybe his favorite sports team’s colors, or maybe even a space look, with a black ceiling and glow in the dark stars, which you can even arrange like the constellations. It really depends though; if your boy is old enough you should allow him some say in the room and what it looks like. After all it is his room, and he will be in there the most.

The same goes for a girl who you might have. If she is old enough, let her have some input into how her room will look. This will free you up for the other rooms of the house too and cut down on the decisions you and your husband will have to decide on. Plus if the kids happen to share a bathroom, why not allow them to decide how to go about decorating it? As long as it’s not some off the wall theme, this will be great for your kids and make them feel like they have contributed to the new interior decoration of the house.

Now it comes to you and your husband’s room. If he doesn’t want anything that is too girly, try to go with a neutral color and designs that will be something you both like. Maybe let him have the living room his style and you get the kitchen. This will allow you both to feel like you have won something! Overall have a blast with the interior decoration and make it look good!

Helping Hands For Taking A Bath

August 12th, 2007
Bathing is one of the many things that we all like to enjoy and feel relaxed about. We like to ensure that we are safe and, for myself personally, I like a bit, of ‘me time’ so that I can be on my own and unwind to a nice relaxing bath.

To relax safely in the bathtub and relieve stresses, aches and pains is one of life’s’ pleasures. If you are interested in making your bathroom safer, there are a number of ways of bathing and you do not necessarily have to change your bathtub to a shower.

Basic solutions like well-positioned grab rails, shower boards, shower seats or even a good fitting bath mat can make a world of difference to your safety in the bathroom. These items are best used in a combination (although they can be used individually) to make your life easier and safer for when you want to get in and out of the bath or shower. For that extra help whilst bathing, a bath lift will raise and lower you without the stress of standing or crouching on a slippery surface.

There are three main types of alternatives such as, the belt type seat, the inflatable air cushion or the battery powered bath lift; the choices are more varied now than ever before. Each type of seat has its own features and benefits and the way each performs should be considered carefully before purchase.

Remember – be safe whilst bathing – this is critical. It is easy to have an accident when doing something as simple as taking a bath, which is why it is vital that you take the proper precautions, making sure that you take the time to select the right equipment to make taking a bath easier and less stressful.

The belt type seats, is designed to lower you right down into the water and tucks away neatly when not in use. When using it safely, the user requires a good degree of upper body strength to sit upright whilst lowering and raising on the belt, as there is no back support. This item requires installing by a certified tradesman.

The inflatable air cushion lowers you to the bottom of the bath and is light and portable. The user requires a fair amount of lower body strength, as the legs need extending whilst lowering and the knees and legs should be drawn close to the cushion upon inflation and rising.

The battery powered bath lift lowers you close to the bottom of the bath. The lifts have the security of a backrest, which can be reclined to select the most comfortable bathing position and rechargeable batteries that alerts the user when the power is low. Most battery powered lifts will not allow the user to lower the lift unless there is sufficient power to rise again. Battery powered lifts are portable, easily removable from the bath and stored away easily when not required.

Ask for help and information. Be sure that what you decide to buy will suit you and is not a waste of your hard-earned money and use whatever you choose carefully. Most importantly of all, enjoy your bathing experience.
