Big Fluffy Bath Towels, Robes, Slippers, Face Masks, Drinks and Nibbles – Girls Night in Essentials

November 24th, 2011 No comments
Are you getting to the age now where a weekly night out on the town with your friends is a long distant memory? Children, husbands, careers and not to mention bills and mortgages all tend to get in the way, giving you little or no time left for your friends. Time is one of the few things that we can’t buy in this modern world, which also makes it one of the most valuable.

There’s no need to let your friendships suffer though. With a bit of creativity and imagination you could still make time for your girlfriends. The classic girls’ night in is always a crowd pleaser and has the added credit crunch bonus of being as cheap as you want it to be. Babysitters and childminders can literally double the cost of a night out, so why not meet up with your friends in the comfort of your own home? Send your other half out for the evening, chill a few bottles of Chablis, put out some nibbles and play one of your favourite albums. All your other responsibilities will soon fade away.

For a truly indulgent girls night in why not convert your front room into a sumptuous beauty parlour? A few well placed fluffy bath towels, candles and facial treatments will soon get you all in the mood. There are plenty of luxury skincare brands available now where you can purchase face masks and skincare treatments that previously were only available inside salons, so not only will you be left feeling revitalised and reenergised but your skin will look gorgeous too.

To get you truly in the mood you could all invest in a big white bathrobe normally only seen at luxury health spas, which combined with a huge bath towel around your hair will make you feel as if you are on a luxury weekend away together, not chatting away in your front room.

If you feel like a true pamper and detox you could always forsake the wine and use a juicer to make some pure fruit juices. If you fancy adding a twist, grab your blender and have a look on the internet for some mocktail recipes – giving you all the glamour of cocktails without the nasty hangovers!

So grab some fluffy bath towels, a huge white bathrobe and several pampering essentials and get your friends over for the ultimate girls’ night in.

Choosing Towel Tips.

Choosing towel tips

As you may know that there are many types of towel available, which can be made from different materials. However, the thing you should consider is the function of usage when stocking up this bathing equipment.

The best material that suitable for make towel is cotton fabric, because the main purpose of towel is to blot up water and cotton fabric is hydrophilic so it has strong ability to absorb water. However, the synthetic cotton my not be as absorbent as entire-cotton towel, because only natural cotton is more hydrophobic and it absorbs moisture into its structure, which has many of layers.

Terry cloth or Velvet?

The terry clothes generally has loops that has ability to absorb water. The most loop, the greater ability to absorb. However, some other people prefer velvet towel. Velvet towel is made by shearing process that removes part of the terry and shortens the fabric pile. However, the ability to absorb moisture of velvet towel is slightly less that terry cloth, because of it has shorter loop but this does not affect its performance as long as it is used to blot, rather than rub dry. However, in some case, if you lucky enough during shopping and you can fine the towel that one side is terrycloth and other side is velvet. The way that you can easily check the ability to absorb water of a towel is thickness, the towel has more thickness usually contain more.

There are other problems of some body who can not identify which one is made from real cotton. As mentioned above that quality of cotton is the key to identify the absorbent, so how we will know that the towel made from real cotton? The most easiest way is you have to look for the Seal of Cotton trademark, which appears on many towels, bath and bedding items.

How to keep and maintain your towel

Generally, good quality towel can last for more than 10 years, so I strongly recommend you to invest by purchase the highest quality one that you are able to afford it.

Tips for making your towel long lasting

1. You should launder it quite frequent and use only soft detergent

2. Do not use fabric softener as it has silicones, which effect to towel and make it virtually water repellent

3. During the first three or four washing, you should separate towels that has dark tone colour, because its colour will bleed and make other clothes be stained with the colour from towel. You can mix other clothes with towel when washing after 5 times washing it separately. However, if possible you should forever, washing them separately because it may also be stained by the colour of other clothes.

4. Do not bleach colored towel because it will destroy ability to absorb water of the towels.

5. If drying by hanging, do not twist towel, just shake it only once and hang it while still wet, this will help to maintain quality of terry loops.

6. Do not iron towels, as it will reduce absorbance

Bath Accessories for Easy Bathroom Makeover

November 21st, 2011 No comments
Recognizing the latest trends in bathroom designing, everybody sees the potential for their own bathrooms with just a little accessorizing and a few small changes. No need to change out the shower and fixtures!

Bath accessories have undergone a tremendous change in the way they are designed with increase in utility and comfort levels.

Today, so many quality bathroom accessories are manufactured and available in the market that you may have a tough time choosing the right one to enhance the look and feel of your room. Beautiful accessories can really transform it into a spa-like atmosphere.

At first thought, many people think that decorating is going to be expensive. We know that this secluded corner of the house needs to be clean and functional, but what about beautiful and chic?

The idea to glamorize this private area of your home has been gaining momentum, and people have become more conscious about the look and feel of the powder room, besides the practicality.

Smart decorating can give any room an inviting appeal, and when it comes to the bathroom, it’s no different. We all want it to smell clean and fresh, but let’s move beyond just clean and into the realm of fabulous! (Fabulous on a budget at least.)

4 quick, easy and inexpensive ways to freshen up with bath accessories: door hardware, cabinet hardware, and paint and aromatherapy.

1. New Cabinet Hardware

New cabinet hardware is such an easy way to transform the look of your bathroom! Various knobs and handles enhance the beauty of doors and drawers of the cabinets under the basin or on the wall.

Choosing the right cabinet hardware that perfectly suits your bathroom is a difficult task as many aspects need to be considered. You should consider the design of the cabinets when choosing new hardware.

Whether you are looking out for a decorative cabinet hardware, simple cabinet hardware or an antique cabinet hardware, it’s important to research well before you make a purchase decision.

Also, you want to consider buying new cabinet hardware that attaches the same as any existing knobs you may have. If your handles have two screws attaching them to the cabinet doors, buy new styles and shapes of handles, but make sure they have the same two screws, so you won’t have to drill more holes.

It should be mentioned that if the handles have two screws, you want to measure the distance between the screws. These can differ also.

2. Matching Bath Accessories

If you are considering new cabinet hardware, you want to look at new bath accessories in towel bars, toilet paper holders, towel rings, and shower rods, all in matching styles.

You can match all of these things regardless of if its style is Italian, French, traditional or modern.

Some of the more popular patinas are chrome and brushed nickel, with oil rubbed bronze being the newest trend.

3. Fresh Coat of Paint

The wonders of a fresh coat of paint! Even if you choose the same color, a fresh coat without all of the nicks and marks can make the room feel so clean.

If your room looks drab and dull, you can add a touch of bright colors to enlighten the room and try some textures in painting as well.

Don’t forget the paint sheen – this can make a huge difference.

Flat paint has a matte finish. It doesn’t reflect light and is good at hiding bumps and nicks on the wall.

Satin paint (sometimes called eggshell), has a slight shine, and it lasts longer and is more stain resistant than flat.

Semi gloss paint has more luster than satin paint and is easy to clean. It’s best if you think you may be scrubbing the walls.

Gloss paint is hard and shiny and hides. It’s most stain resistant, but it enhances imperfections on the wall surface that it is used. It is usually used for base boards, trim and cabinets.

4. Aromatherapy

Now that you have everything looking so great, buy a few scented candles to increase the spa appeal. Or go flameless with a plug-in oil warmer in a clean scent to really make this your escape!

Once you are done with remodeling and the recreation of your bathroom, indulge in a nice long bubble bath and pamper yourself.

Mini Makeover for your Guest Bath

November 21st, 2011 No comments
If your guest bath is trapped in the past don’t despair! There are some quick and inexpensive changes you can make that will trick your guests into thinking you spent the time and money on a major remodel. Just follow this timeline and soon you will be showing the old bath the door.

Tackle the Walls

If your bathroom walls are still living in the 70s or 80s, you’ll need some time to get down to the basics so you can refresh and update the look.

To remove wallpaper, use a solution made from water and white wine vinegar to loosen the old adhesive. Next, carefully scrape off the paper. You may need a scoring tool from your local home improvement store to get under the paper and make it easier to remove.

Now is also the perfect time to remove the old medicine chest or drab mirror. Once the walls are clear, clean the walls and trim thoroughly with a damp rag or sponge and fill any nail holes, scratches or other damage with wall putty or joint compound. Sand walls and trim and wipe down again for a clean smooth canvas.

Next, use a primer specially formulated for the bath that offers mildew protection and stain resistance. Before you begin to paint the walls, tape around any windows or door trim for a professional appearance.

Apply one to two coats of high-quality, washable paint. For trim, choose high-gloss paint in a neutral color for a cool contrast.

Time: 8 – 24 hours

Paint and Supplies: $50 – $100

Swap out Your Fixtures

Even if you can’t afford to change the style of your current vanity, switching out the faucet is an easy way to create a new look. Try a faucet that will add some style and personality to your bath like lavatory faucet. With its high arc spout and traditional design, it adds timeless appeal and distinction right to your sink.

Older fixtures can make your bath look dated and show your home’s age. Today’s faucets come in great finishes like brushed nickel and oil rubbed bronze, allowing you to easily freshen up the appearance of your bathroom.

Install two robe hooks on the back of the bathroom door or on the wall near the shower and hang fluffy robes for guests to enjoy.

Paying attention to the details with coordinating accessories can dramatically change the appearance of the bath

Time: 2 – 4 hours

Cost: $225 – $350

Finishing Touches

Put the finishing touches on your bath and impress guests with your stylish accommodations.

Be sure to have plenty of clean, plush towels including bath towels, hand towels and washcloths. Scatter some colorful soft rugs and bath mats on the floor. Not only will this disguise floors that may need some changing, but will add soft, warm comfort underfoot.

And don’t think your old tub/shower has to look it. With a new stylish shower curtain and decorative curtain rings, you’ll have a great new look in no time. And, for a luxury shower experience, update your showerhead with a new rainshower, showerhead.

Fill a unique basket with luxurious lotions, shampoos, facial and body soap so guests can indulge, but don’t forget the basics like toothpaste as well.

Finally, finish off the room with some fresh flowers or green plants to add that extra special touch. Time: 4 – 8 Hours

Cost: $100-$250

By following these tips you’ll be amazed at how easy it can be to transform your guest bath so it looks and feels guest ready.

Hot Foot Bath – Good for Health

November 20th, 2011 No comments
Hot foot bath gives relaxation to the entire body if you are tired and also helpful in eliminating toxins from the body. It is an effective means of reducing congestion of blood or water in the upper parts of the body.

When you have to take a foot bath, drink a glass of warm water, sit on a chair and lower you feet in a bucket full of hot water. The level of the water should, ideally, come up to the knees. The temperature of the water should not be too much above the body temperature. As the water gets cold, go on adding more hot water. Take care to see that the hot water added later does not scald the feet.

Cover yourself with a blanket. Wrap it around your body; even if the bucket is covered, it will be all right. The head should be covered with a towel wetted with cold water. As the coldness of the towel evaporated, dip it in cold water, wring it lightly and again cover your head with it.

In 15 to 20 minutes you will start perspiring. When a fair amount of perspiration has been formed, the bath can be terminated. Wash your feet with cold water afterwards and wipe them with a towel. Wipe your body with a wet towel and dress yourself. An ordinary bath can be taken after the hot foot bath.

The blood pressure decreases during the course of the bath. A feeling of giddiness therefore may ensue. This feeling will pass away on resting for a few minutes. But as a precautionary measure, very weak persons, pregnant women and patients with abnormally high or low blood pressure, should avoid taking hot foot baths.
